The undergraduate program in the Aeronautical Engineering Department is designed to satisfy the vision and the mission of the department.  It also reflects the increasing importance of the field of Aeronautics in the development plans of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  

  

The vision of the department is to offer leadership in aerospace education and research.  By leadership it is meant to incorporate state of the art techniques in education and research with social and ethical concerns of the society.

The mission of the department is to provide an environment that promotes creativity, stimulates innovation, enhances life-long learning skills, and professionally serves the society within the Islamic ethical context.

The vision and mission of the department give rise to the following set of core values:

1.       Dedication to student-centered, outcome-based teaching and learning.

2.       Valuing innovation and creative thinking in teaching and assessment.

3.       Professional integrity and ethical behavior.

4.       Commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement.

5.       Openness with all program constituencies and stakeholders.

The mission of the department supports the missions of both the Faculty of Engineering and KAU which are as follows:

The mission of the Faculty of Engineering is to prepare distinguished engineers and to pioneer in conducting research and studies and in transferring knowledge and technology, all for ultimately serving and developing the society.

The mission of King Abdulaziz University is the advancement of the society through pioneering research, and encouraging academic and scientific excellence.

The philosophy behind the mission of the University is to balance three elements; namely, educational excellence, advanced research, and professional services to the society.  This is also reflected in the mission of the Faculty of Engineering and that of the AE Department as well as the vision of the department that concentrates on leadership in education and research.
