ABET Accreditional
![]()
ABET accreditation is an assurance that a college or university program meets the quality standards established by the profession for which it prepares its students. For example, an accredited engineering program must meet the quality standards set by the engineering profession. An accredited computer science program must meet the quality standards set by the computing profession. ABET accredits postsecondary degree-granting programs housed within regionally accredited institutions. ABET accredits programs only, not degrees, departments, colleges, or institutions.
Why we have to go through ABET?
Accreditation helps students and their parents choose quality college programs.
Accreditation enables employers to recruit graduates they know are well-prepared.
Accreditation is used by registration, licensure, and certification boards to screen applicants.
Accreditation gives colleges and universities a structured mechanism to assess, evaluate, and improve the quality of their programs.

It is our ultimate goal to reach a level of development in engineering professional practices to be capable of fulfilling present and future needs of the country in the field of Mining engineering.
Our Situation
Mining Engineering Program has been evaluated by ABET as substantially equivalent to similar ABET accredited programs in 2003.
Current re-evaluation
Phase 1 - Self study Report Preparation (Ready - sent for 1st revision)
Phase 2 - Program Binder (Ready)
Faculty involvements
The development of ABET documentations start by assigning work group for each ABET task by the department head. The ABET champion feed the work group with inputs for the task or tasks they asked to accomplish. Work groups are initiated for the following ABET development areas:
